The Ogden Temple

I am not sure the age it began, but ever since our kids were a young age they would react when they saw the Ogden temple. They run errands with me a lot so get many chances to drive past the temple. They would shout with joy "the temple, I can see the temple". They would often start bursting out to sing "I love to see the temple". Now that they are older they don't always burst out in song, but do always spot and point out the temple. It always made me smile that the kids believed what they were taught and knew the temple was important. We have been so blessed to have a temple so close for our kids to recognize and look at each time we drive by.

The Ogden temple will be closed soon and redone. I thought it would be awesome to get a picture of the kids and our family in front of the temple they have always known and been so familiar with. Our family has been extremely blessed to live so close to a Temple. I don't think we really realize how blessed we are. Now that we will have to travel a bit to attend the temple I think we will see a small glimpse of what others have to go through. Our family has been very blessed through the ordinances of the temple.

I do wish we were dressed a little nicer but never seemed to find the time to make it there. So we just went the way we were. (The boys and I)

Max's first race of the season

Max has really taken some interest in running. He has been thriving on getting out and going for a jog. We have been trying to get him out and run atleast 2 times a week. The funny thing about kids and running is I don't think they realize they should be tired. At least Max is that way. He just plugs along and keeps going no matter how warn out he is. Man sometimes I wish I had that motivation and drive that they do.

We heard about a race down at Fremont and signed him and one parent up. He decided to have his dad run with him because he thought he could go faster with him. To be honest I think he loves the one on one time with Nelson.

Max ended up having a great run and got the best time he has gotten yet (this is his 3rd race). He got 27 minutes. He ended up taking 2nd place for the twelve years and under division. He is now even more determined to keep running and getting a better time. We look forward to a fun year of running with him and being able to chat.

Signs of Spring

I wonder what it is that makes me thrive for Spring and the warmer weather. I swear any glimpse of nice weather I am in my capris and camped outside (even if it is only 30 degrees). It is weird how colder weather makes our minds think that 35 degrees is a nice day.
Well we are getting closer to spring and warmer days and I can't wait. This is just a slight glance of what spring is going to bring around my house. The fort Nelson made last year is a kid magnet (which we would have it no other way). We have already had endless hours of play and imagination in the fort this March. Now I just need to gear myself with extra food in the pantry (to feed all the kids) and be prepared for all the endless pairs of socks that are being left.
Can't wait for what spring will bring!!

Grandma Miner

This past weekend was Nelson's Grandma Miners 90th Birthday. She lives in Logan. We were able to go with Nelson's family to visit, and hang out a bit for her birthday. She is the only grandparent either one of us have alive. My grandparents have been gone for some time. My grandma's more than 20 years. I miss having a cute grandparent around. We have felt blessed to be able to enjoy the time with Nelson's Grandma.

The kids love to visit with her and call her Grandma Great. She loves to see them long as there is not too much chaos (with 2 boys that does not happen to often).
She sure has been through a lot in her life and we have been blessed to learn from her. Her health has not been the greatest so who knows how much longer she will be around. She sure is proud of Nelson. Everytime we see her she has to say something about him being a Bishop. She thinks it is the neatest thing.

Date Night with the Kids

Friday night we had plans with family but things ended up falling through. We decided to take advantage of the time and go on a date with the kids. Nelson decided the fair way to pick what kid got to go with what parent was to flip a coin. As luck would have it- Asher got me. Neither one of the boys were that excited to have to go with their mom, the would chose their dad any day.

Asher and I got ready for our date and headed it. The whole date was planned by Ash. The night started at Costa Vida where Ash got his very own kids meal. (We all usually end up sharing meals). His meal was complete with a big serving of Sprite. He then chose to go bowling at Fat Cats. He even asked me to go easy on him. As hard as I tried to lose I still ended up winning. Asher tried to not act too disappointed. The night ended with a double scoop of ice cream at Farr's. A night can't be complete without a double dose of chocolate. Asher ended up deciding it was not that bad having to hang out with me, especially when he was incharge. He even said it was fun because he could talk to me about whatever he wanted and not get interrupted.

Max was the lucky winner to go with dad this time (this is only our second time doing this, we realized we need to do it more). Max picked to eat at Bella's where he pounded down a "large" burrito just like his dad. He then picked a book store. Good thing he was with his dad because he would enjoy that more than I. They looked at whatever books they wanted for almost an hour. His night was then topped off with Go Kart rides at Toads (thank heavens for season passes). We all had a blast and we were so glad we could spend time together.

Missionary

With Nelson's calling the missionaries are at our house a bit. It is a great opportunity for my kids to get to interact and learn from them. They are currently working with a 9 year old boy in our ward. The other night they invited Max to go to a discussion with them. Max thought that was pretty cool. He was able to read scriptures and share his testimony about the topic being discussed. He thought that was way cool. They came over after and had cookies and milk with us.

I am grateful the missionaries are giving him this hands on experience to be exposed to missionary work. It has been great for him. He even asked if he should wear his dad's old mission badge.

Sorry girls they are not available

The other day Asher came home with two notes in his bag. I pulled them out thinking they were birthday invitations but to my surprise I was wrong. Keep in mind the notes are from two separate people. I read them and they said:

I Love you ASHRE and
Asher- I like you you are hand some.

I have been wondering if they are sympathy notes because of his face. Who knows but I am not ready for the girls to be "in love" with my boys. To me they are my little boys that love to go off their jumps, build forts and defeat the next world in Mario. I am not ready for them to grow up yet. Little do the girls know that we have a little pact- no "girlfriends" until they are 21 (after their mission). Cross our fingers that works out for us. In the mean time maybe our kids won't be so cute so we can avoid the notes.
