1. When Max was about 3 wanted to teach him more. We decided that every Family Night we would have a lesson and then as a family we would make treats and deliver them. Most of the time we let the kids pick who they wanted to deliver the treats to. Many times it was their favorite primary teachers, best friends and good neighbors. Even when we moved we stuck with this tradition. Sure, there are some Monday nights that we do miss but for a majority we make treats and take them to someone else. It has been a fun tradition I enjoy. It allows life to slow down a bit while we spend time making the treats as well as riding in the car to deliver them.
2. About three years ago we wanted to figure out a way the kids could help others for Christmas. There is always the Christmas trees at work or at the mall, but we decided to do something a little different. We had the kids decorate a jar. Once the jar was decorated they would then do jobs to earn money. Once the money was earned they were able to go to the store and buy new items for the DI. The kids have really enjoyed this. This year they were just as excited to do the work to earn money. We took them to the store and they decided to buy balls and gloves to donate. We all had a great time with this and love to be able to help others out.
I am sure there are more family traditions that our little family has adopted, but I have a crappy memory and don't remember them all.
